Find Out More About Bolingbrook, Illinois Real Estate Properties

Excerpted from the Bolingbrook Village Web Site: Location, location, location There are many fine suburbs ringing the great city of Chicago. Bolingbrook is about 30 miles southwest of the city's lakeshore downtown. One of Bolingbrook's biggest advantages is that it is at a transportation hub, where two major highways meet: I-55 (the Stevenson Expressway) and I-355 (the North-South Tollway). They make Bolingbrook one of the most accessible suburbs to all the rest of Chicagoland. Young and diverse Bolingbrook is a young, vibrant community of 64,000, with a brief history dating back to only 1965. Our population is noted for its diversity, and as one of the youngest average populations in the state. Informally, it's even been called the "Tee-ball capital" because of the high number of youngsters that participate in that sport every summer. Not to mention Little League, basketball, flag and tackle football, soccer, swimming and ice hockey leagues. We are one of the newest and most aggressive communities in terms of our efforts to promote industrial and commercial growth, and upgrade the housing within the Village. Parks, schools, library, senior center We have a Gold Medal award-winning park district with two recreation centers, two fitness centers, an indoor and outdoor aquatic center, 30+ neighborhood parks, a golf course, hundreds of programs for children, adults and special recreation needs, and a scenic ole' fishin' hole and greenway path along the DuPage River. We have good schools, in a choice of five different public school districts, as well as distinguished private schools in the area. Our Fountaindale Library system is known for being user friendly and responsive, with an extensive and varied collection, plus programs for all ages. While we have lots of kids, we also value senior citizens. We have a senior housing complex, a lovely public senior citizen center that provides daily programs, hot lunches and a dial-a-ride service, plus the outstanding and beautiful Meadowbrook Manor Skilled Care and Rehabilitation Center (which includes a senior day care center). We aim to serve Our snow plowing is recognized as one of the best in the suburbs. Bolingbrook led the way in developing a municipal paramedic program. We have several excellent hospitals in the area to choose from, plus our own Bolingbrook Medical Center and Edward Healthcare Center, plus medical clinics, labs and offices. You can shop 'til you drop Where once, Villagers had to go out of town even to get groceries, much less do their other shopping, Bolingbrook is now becoming a shopping mecca. Now out-of-towners come here, attracted by our ever-growing number of new stores and shopping centers. Meijer, the well-known Michigan-based giant discounter, picked Bolingbrook, out of all of the Chicagoland suburbs, for its very first Chicagoland store. Plans are growing for a major regional mall on Bolingbrook's eastside near the I-355 tollway. It would be the first new mall to be built in Chicagoland in 20 years! A safe place to live Of course you'll want to know how safe your family would be here. The fact that so many families choose to live and stay in Bolingbrook is one indication. Our annual crime rates verify that, too. Crime is down. Overall, it went down 5% last year. Residential burglaries decreased 20%! We are very pleased and gratified by that because the town was growing by some 500 new homes during that same time! Over the years, our annual crime rates compare very favorably comparable to our neighboring towns in both Will and DuPage counties. Most home for your money One of our biggest drawing points is that Bolingbrook is where you can get the most house for your money. Not cheap housing. That's not what we mean. We have everything from starter homes to 4,000 square foot custom homes on wooded lots. But whatever your style or range, your housing dollar stretches farther here. That's because Bolingbrook is newer, and because it is largely in Will County, where farm land has been less expensive for developers to purchase and then develop than in the more populated areas. Taxes dropping As for taxes, the Village has been able to lower its tax rate for the 13th year in a row. And for the first time since 1976, the tax rate for the Village of Bolingbrook is going below the $1.00 mark. It will be 98 cents on the property tax bills payable in 2000! Last year, households actually paid fewer dollars to all of the local taxing bodies than the year before. That's because Bolingbrook is also "a good place to grow" for business and industry. Where Bolingbrook was once largely a "bedroom community" in which homeowners had to carry most of the tax burden, we now have a large commercial/industrial tax base. (We've gone from 115,000 square feet of commercial/industrial/office space in 1986 to more than 12 million square feet this year, and still growing.) Our industry is clean, non-polluting and is located primarily along the highways, away from residential neighborhoods. Boom town with a small town feel Bolingbrook is booming. A couple of years ago we had a big celebration. A greeting party went out to "Welcome Our 50,000th New Neighbor!" Residents sent messages and what they like best about the Village of Bolingbrook. The top reason: its friendly, small town feel, even though we're growing by 300 to 500 new homes a year! We'd love to have you, too! There is so much to love about the Chicago area. And while we admit we may be biased, we think that Bolingbrook is one of the best places to live in this great metropolitan area. Good luck! Find out more at the Bolingbrook web site.
